With kids, it’s rarely obvious.
A child who can’t focus.
Avoids school.
Seems constantly “on edge.”
Melts down when plans change.
And the same question always follows:
What’s actually driving this?
Here’s the clinical challenge: ASD, ADHD, and anxiety overlap—a lot.
And when we rush to labels, support can miss the mark.
In this 2-day workshop, we slow things down and focus on what really matters:
• What is the behaviour doing for the child—avoiding, coping, communicating?
• Is it consistent across home, school, and social settings?
• When did it emerge developmentally?
• What shifts with structure, reassurance, and predictability?
Why this matters:
• “Inattention” may be anxiety-based avoidance
• “Social withdrawal” may reflect anxiety or social communication differences
• “Restlessness” may be ADHD—or hyperarousal
• “Rigidity” may be ASD traits—or anxiety safety behaviours
What we unpack together:
Day 1: Overlap vs. differentiation
Day 2: Integrated formulation & intervention planning—beyond labels
Because better attunement leads to better outcomes.
